Many of us struggle with depression or anxiety in our personal relationships, at work, in family interactions, and with loved ones. When we are preoccupied with mistakes in the past or constant worry or fear about trouble in the future, we fail to be who we want to be in the present - we literally lose touch with our true 'self'. The goal of existential counseling is to help you develop a better relationship with your 'self' so that you can make successful changes in your relationships with others and find more meaning in your everyday life. More Info About My Practice

Existential counseling is ideal for working-aged men and women who feel stuck or frustrated with where they are in their life and seek some practical understanding about themselves that will empower them to be more present and effective in their relationships at work and at home. This kind of therapy is also well suited to people who have experienced loss or social isolation that has caused them to lose confidence in who they are and who they may yet become in their lifetime. How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I've had several years of life experience dealing with my own family problems and helping others to overcome the physical and mental hardships of daily living in impoverished conditions. This experience has caused me to become realistic yet also optimistic about the capacity of people to change their own lives for the better. It's why I still do this work!

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

In existential therapy, conditions like depression, anxiety, addiction, and compulsive behaviors are not treated as diseases or mental deficiencies but as normal responses to things that happen to people growing up while confronting hostile events and unhappy people. It's what we learn to do to defend ourselves as children that no longer works for us in our relationships as adults.
