Does your child or teenager struggle to pay attention to activities or tasks? Does he or she have disorganized work habits or constantly forget things? Does your child constantly shift conversation, struggle to listen to others, or experience difficulties understanding the rules of activities and social interactions?
If so, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood regulation, depression, executive functioning issues, or learning disabilities could explain his or her challenges.
It is extraordinarily frustrating for parents to see a child struggle when they know that he or she is capable of so much more. Something appears to be getting in the way.
For more than two decades, I have worked with young people with these kinds of challenges. I have developed an effective way to treat young people and their families. Fundamental to my approach is helping both parents and children understand how their emotions and brains work. From this understanding I suggest concrete strategies that will help them in all areas of their lives.

More Info About My Practice
I offer family, group, and individual therapy. I also provide parenting support consultations.
I embrace a strengths-based approach that often utilizes adventure-based counseling groups. These groups involve outdoor activities, including rock climbing, snow boarding, hiking, and ropes courses. Tangible challenges empower children and teens to view their problems in a new light while cultivating new and exciting skills in a safe environment.
I also work with children and teens who have suffered trauma, are making transitions from schools, homes and from high school to college or whose parents are going through divorce.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I am fluent in Spanish and use a cultural lens in my work with all my clients and families. Clients who have experienced trauma I use a trauma model that provides a families and individuals and experience which includes psycho education about the impact of trauma as well as techniques for healing and ongoing self-care.
I also use mindfulness to address those with executive functioning challenges, anxiety and trauma.
