My Approach to Helping

Depression, anxiety, and OCD have become all too common, but they don’t have to ruin our lives. Using research-proven methods in the context of a warm, empathetic therapy relationship, I’ve spent over 16 years guiding countless struggling individuals in overcoming these hurdles so they can thrive once more.

When we're nervous or sad, our brains tend to loop into negative interpretations of our experiences, leaving us feeling stuck. While working with me, clients begin to internalize their own strengths and achievements, reframing and challenging these automatic thoughts. In doing so clients tend to discover new possibilities in their life, freeing them from these cycles.

The world we live in doesn't allow us to take care of ourselves without feeling guilty or anxious. Therapy is a place where we can face the areas in our lives that need improvement without feeling ashamed. I'm grateful to be able to sit with clients as they begin to see a brighter future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

More Info About My Practice

I strongly believe in the mission of social work, which involves addressing the systems within our society that affect our day-to-day well-being. I had the opportunity to serve that mission by rebuilding schools and churches in Mississippi and Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. I also provided mental health counseling and education for hospital staff on a Navajo reservation following COVID, when there had been death and trauma extending beyond the disease to domestic violence and substance abuse.
