My deep confidence in people's power to heal and grow as human beings arises from years of witnessing this power, both as a professional and also as a fellow human being. I come to this work from a background in clinical social work and twenty years of practice combining counseling with acupuncture. While traditional psychotherapy tends to look for problems and solutions in the mind alone, we are all coming to understand how intimately the mind and body are related, and what a source of healing this relationship is. On the other hand, while acupuncture tends to deeply acknowledge the mind body relationship, it does not directly provide ways of achieving psychological insight or methods of addressing and changing patterns of thought and behavior.
My solution offers strengths from both approaches, the insight and support of therapeutic conversation and relationship in addressing trauma and moving toward positive change, and the wisdom of acupuncture in drawing on the body's natural ability to balance and heal itself.

My approach responds to each person, emphasizing talk therapy, acupuncture or an integration of the two as needed and in consultation with the client.
