While we all have stress, in some of us that stress becomes overwhelming, and we become stuck in our inability to process the event, or series of events, that terrified us or caused us unmanageable grief. My work brings in the body that holds that disregulated nervous system, and the spirit attempting to regain connection with others and with life.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Especially for those who struggle with a sense of being isolated in their pain, asking help from another, even when that person is professionally committed to helping people, can be terrifying. I think that everyone who comes into my office for the first time is courageous, and it amazes me each time, even after 15+ years, someone actually trusts me enough to witness and embrace them in their pain. There are many ways to heal, and therapy may not be your best way. I allow for free initial consultations that allow us to assess if this is right for you.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy is not supposed to be forever! Being able to say thanks and farewell to your therapist is the goal of any successful therapy. Because I address trauma holistically, mind, body and spirit, the work tends to go much faster. That being said, most of my clients need at least 3-6 months at once a week; deeply ingrained trauma can take up to two years. As soon as it appears that your goals have been achieved, and that you're successfully using coping skills and are able to embrace your new life comfortably, we see if you can go to every other week, then once a month, then as needed.
