What's My Approach to Therapy?
I provide empathetic, empowering care to individuals with a variety of support needs. I am a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2S+-affirming therapist.
When am I going to stop feeling like I'm always in survival mode? What if my childhood actually wasn't 'normal'? How does everyone know the rules for things that don't even have an instruction manual? Why did those things happen to me? Do I even deserve to take up space? How do I handle a world that feels like it’s always burning around me, where I’m constantly bracing for harm because of who I am? You’re carrying so much inside, more than feels possible, & it’s exhausting to hold it all on your own. You deserve a safe, empowering space to honour the parts of yourself just trying to survive this life in the best ways you know how.
I will always meet you exactly where you're at. I believe therapy is a brave and continuous journey, and my goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to show up fully as your authentic self. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally conscious, and rooted in anti-diet culture and HAES, and I am an intentional neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2S+-affirming provider. The types of treatment I use greatly depend on the person(s) served and their support areas, what feels most aligned with their values, and how structured clients would like their sessions to be.
I fully believe therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your story and your goals. Trauma-informed, impactful, and fit for 'real life' support is what I provide in my work, with a bit of humour sprinkled in along the way too – if it's helpful. I strive to be a therapist who 'gets it', and together, we’ll build a foundation of trust & safety, crafting a space that's empowering and goal-focused, using an ethical, evidence-based approach.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
Here's what you can expect at the first session: In our first session, we'll start by getting to know each other and talking about what's been coming up for you lately. There's no pressure to dive into everything right away; we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I'll ask some thoughtful, gentle questions to start understanding what support might feel most helpful. We'll also talk about what working together could look like and what you might be wanting from this space. My goal is that you leave the session feeling a little lighter, truly heard, and reassured that you don?t have to figure things out alone. Then, we can figure it out from there!
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
There's no one-size-fits-all reason folks come to therapy, and every reason is valid and worthy of support. Maybe you're working to determine what gets you out of bed in the morning, understand your identity and inner self more completely, or how to show yourself the compassion and kindness you deserve. Maybe you're carrying the weight of trauma, discovering that your childhood "wasn't normal," feeling overwhelmed by everything that comes with daily life, working to identify your emotions, or coping with a challenging life transition. You might be craving connection, feeling isolated, misunderstood, or unsure how to start building or continue fostering the kind of relationships and community you want. Truly, there's many support areas and reasons that might bring you to therapy and you absolutely don't need to have everything figured out before starting. I'll meet you where you are, and we'll take it from there, at your pace, in your own way, with intentionally tailored therapeutic support.
