My Approach to Helping
I am a relationally based counselor and tend to view the world through a relational lens. It's been my experience, both personally and professionally, that the quality of a person's life is predominantly influenced by the quantity, quality, and substance of that person's relationships. Great relationships produce joy, a sense of connection, safety, personal growth and the experience of richness in life. Difficult relationships, on the other hand, create stress, anxiety, a sense of aloneness, depression and a tendency to avoid risking. How you are in relationships is greatly influenced by the quality of connection you had with parents. Again, great relationships, positive learning and strong sense of connection. Difficult relationships produce difficult adaptations and the need for protections that, as adults, interfere with relationship development.
Here at the Center for Relationship Training and Recovery, we offer relationship therapy and intensive weekend workshops for couples ("Getting the Love You Want"), therapy groups with a relational focus and growthful process, and weekend workshops for singles (Keeping the Love You Find). We also offer therapy groups with a focus on addiction treatment, recovery and lifetime management.
