I believe psychotherapy occurs in the context of a trusting, accepting, nurturing and consistent relationship. Psychotherapy should include identification of strengths and abilities that then become an integral part of the psychotherapy plan. Insight is important but not sufficient for change to occur and my belief is that action is also key to reaching one's goals. I have a background in medicine working as an internal medicine doctor for 17 years which I believe is frequently helpful in the counseling work that I do. This experience has also given me an appreciation for designing treatment that fits for an individual and has been proven to be effective.
