My Approach to Helping

Healing is a process which can continue throughout our life. Each client's internal wisdom can be a guide in selecting healing techniques, interventions, rituals and pathways uniquely suited to his/her needs. In my practice I utilize research-based interventions, leaving space for the "magic" of the relationship between client and therapist to support the healing. "There are limits to my power" is a personal statement I often make and encourage my clients to also consider, while at the same time acknowledging the unlimited power available to us all. "Too often we underestimate how quickly our feelings are going to change because we underestimate our ability to change them." David Gilbert, PhD. Change can be difficult! An important part of my practice is to coach you through the change process, helping you achieve and maintain new healthy-lifestyle behaviors.

In my practice I incorporate nutritional, energetic, biofeedback and Chinese Medicine therapies. How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My own experience with trauma and illness has helped me understand how quickly our lives can go out of control - how we can be well and highly functioning one minute and then be completely devastated the next. My experience with illness, injury and pain helped me find resources within myself that I had not known existed. My struggles have given me a stronger connection with my clients as well as a more patient understanding of their efforts to move forward. I also have developed great respect for the the power of the human connection in healing, as well as for the diversity of interventions which can result in healing.
