My Approach to Helping
I believe that clients are fundamentally trying their best to survive and thrive in the world as they understand it, and may need assistance in gaining new tools, new perspectives, or adapting to a new context. My therapeutic approach is eclectic but draws heavily from intrapersonal neurobiology. I am a member of and passionate about working with the disabled, kinkBDSM, and alter-human and furry communities. I strive to provide a sense of continuity across sessions for my client. At the end of every meeting, I ask for any next-session topics that could use further exploration, and at the beginning of each session, I follow through on prior goals as well as ask about anything new that might need priority. My hope is to provide structure and context while still allowing for flexibility. During a session, my goal is to find the underlying thread in thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and reflect this big-picture view back to my clients. My ultimate goal is to provide tools and skills to help them become their best-aligned selves.
