My Approach to Helping
Seeking therapy takes courage. It's the courage to examine what is not working in your life and how you want it to be different. Whether you are dealing with hurt, anxiety, loneliness or heart break you don't have to stay stuck. I will walk alongside you as you process through this.
You deserve compassion and connection while dealing with life's hardship. It is my greatest honor to see my clients through trying times. Healing is possible, sometimes it is one step at a time, sometimes it is great leaps, but always possible.
When dealing with life's adversity it matters to choose someone who has taken the time to become specialized. My training includes the most up to date work on trauma, whether that is a catastrophic event or a series of painful moments that has you face down and out for the count. I'm also trained in Emotion Focused Therapy and Gottman Method for couples. Call me for a free and confidential consultation. 801-864-6559.

More Info About My Practice
I believe that each person has the capacity to heal. Our work is to remove the barriers that prevent this from happening. To do this I use a client centered approach, employing techniques including EMDR and Gottman method for couples, this in turn provides tangible tools that help people move forward.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I am passionate about trauma healing. Trauma is linked with depression, anxiety, dissociation, attachment disorders, difficulties interpersonally, addiction and many other maladies. Trauma, whether a single, horrible event or a series of hardships can become like a massive rock in our backpack. It is exhausting, difficult to maintain and takes up space that could be filled with better tools or things that bring us joy.
I am trained in EMDR an evidence based practice that helps deal with the rock. Together, we will break it in to small manageable pieces and discard what is without value. Then you continue on your journey carrying what is of worth and far less weight.
I am trained in Gottman style couples counseling. An evidence based approach that helps unravel the mystery of connection, or the lack there of. Often people wonder how they and their partner got to this place of hardship.
I focus on tangible tools that improve communication and help partners turn towards each other rather than away. Each person learns to take responsibility for the role they play in maintaining the distance and how to heal it.
I truly enjoy working with Teens and their families. Teenagers have their own unique voice, when they feel unheard behaviors frequently manifest in destructive ways. These years are often filled with angst and fighting, but they don't have to be so difficult. In working both with the teen and the family, functional communication skills are developed and a better understanding can be gained from both perspectives.
