My Approach to Helping

Our past relationships can leave us wounded. The story that we tell ourselves may be riddled with negative thoughts, shame, and low self-worth. As these feelings manifest, we become anxious and depressed. Therapy can help us discover new perspectives that shape a new narrative, one where we have different ways to manage our emotions and lead a more enjoyable life.

I provide a calming, open, and non-judgmental space for us to be curious as we explore your thoughts and feelings. We might look at dreams and body language to access parts of yourself that you have lost touch with or haven’t yet become aware of. I see my role as one to explore reflect the whole self and remind or connect you of your own inner truth.

I use theoretical orientations such as Jungian depth psychotherapy, modern psychoanalytic interventions, and somatic approaches to understanding my clients and help them connect to different unconscious fragments of themselves. However, the real value in therapy is the nurturing and developing a trusting relationship and the corrective experience that it can offer.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work from a trauma-informed perspective. While traditional psychotherapy uses an emphasis on putting language to thoughts, for someone with trauma, these thoughts are too painful to think about, much less express in words. By integrating the somatic dimension, my clients can build an awareness of how physical symptoms relate to their beliefs and emotions. This reconnection of the cognitive, emotional, and physical elements of our being allows us to be truly engaged with the present while no longer experiencing events from the past.
