My Approach to Helping
You've begun the process of finding support for a loved one or yourself, and now must choose which therapist will help you begin the healing process. There are many qualified clinicians, so making the choice can be daunting. You need not only to work with a credentialed therapist, but also one from whom you feel empathetic warmth and compassionate care. I believe therapists need more than a degree and a license to help their clients. One size does not fit all, and each client faces different challenges and has different needs.
For some clients, I'm the one who finally listens without judgment, helping them unravel feelings of shame from faulty childhood criticisms, while enabling them to replace these feelings with a realistic and constructive self-assessment. For other clients, I help confront the rationalizations and denial that cause people to get stuck in negative patterns. For all of my clients, I employ great interest, care, and commitment to helping them feel, think, and live better because I don't know another way to be a therapist.
I bring 26 years of experience to my work with children, families, couples, and individuals. I help my clients recover a sense of hope by working from their inherent strengths. I aid my clients in using new skills to navigate interpersonal, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. My practice is a family practice, specializing in teen and child therapy, but I work with couples and adults every day. Feel free to contact me to discuss your concerns so we can begin developing a support plan to meet your needs.
