My Approach to Helping
I see counseling as a collaborative process between individuals. I consider it a privilege to walk with you on your journey, whether it consists of management of symptoms, self-discovery, healing, or growth. My vision is to empower you to make decisions that best accommodate your lifestyle and current situation, and with which you are comfortable. I fully believe that you know yourself best and therefore, together, we create a unique and personalized approach to your counseling that includes the goals you have for yourself. I seek to provide you with a non-judgmental, supportive environment where you can feel free to be who you are and accepted completely.
As a clinician, I have garnered knowledge from a variety of sites, working with clients presenting with a broad range of mental health issues. Currently, I provide individual and group counseling services to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Previously, I worked at a residential treatment center providing group and individual counseling to adults diagnosed with mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. Additionally, my professional experiences include serving as a counselor at a university in Morocco where I provided individual counseling to college students, counseling women in recovery from addiction at a residential treatment center, being a case manager at a psychiatric hospital working with adults ages 60+, and maintaining a private practice. Some of my areas of interest include: addiction, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma and personal growth.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia, and a Certified Professional Counselors Supervisor (CPCS) in the state of Georgia. I hold professional memberships in the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCAGA) and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. I then pursued both my Master of Science (M.S.) in Professional Counseling and Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) in Professional Counseling degrees from Georgia State University.
