My Approach to Helping
My mission is to treat each client as an individual with unique needs. Lifestyle must be considered in care decisions. I take a holistic approach and believe in the mind-body-spirit connection. We are all individuals and should be treated as such.
I have been a practicing nurse for 37 years. My professional experience has given me a broad perspective on health. While my specialty is psychiatry, I have experience in medical-surgical nursing including neurology/neurosurgery and bone marrow transplant. In psychiatry, I have worked in emergency service, crisis stabilization, consult liaison, private practice, teaching, and research. Despite the work setting or clinical focus, the individual needs were the primary focus.
Coming from a bilingual Hispanic household, I grew up with diversity as a way of life at an early age. Having traveled to a dozen different countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and teaching overseas, including mission trips to remote villages in Honduras and Guatemala, has allowed me to observe the impact of culture, resources, and attitudes on health.
I support balance in life. I meet each client where they are and support them in their growth moving forward. Clients can relax in a safe and nurturing environment.
