My Approach to Helping
I began my own personal journey many years ago when I was experiencing stressors in my life that I was having a hard time managing alone. I didn't want to confide in the people around me because in some ways I was embarrassed, I felt that they weren't trustworthy or that they simply wouldn't understand. It was through these experiences that I found not only peace and acceptance in myself and in others, but also what my "calling" was. My name is Samantha Tinter and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master's degree from Fordham University.
My personal therapeutic work and my professional experiences have allowed me to see and feel mental health counseling from both sides of the couch. It is something that I think is truly valuable in my work with clients, being able to meet them where they are at and not rush or force their process. I believe that each client is unique as is their story, so it is of utmost importance to me that a safe and supportive environment is created to allow for resolution and healing. Because the human psyche is so complex, I incorporate many different modalities creating the most ideal situation for growth and learning. My experience as a former teacher allows me to guide clients through the most difficult times in their lives with love and support.
I work with my clients to determine realistic, positive and challenging goals. Through this work, we uncover internal blind spots, areas that are avoided and neglected because they are painful, fear-based or overwhelming. This is where true healing begins. It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients on their journey to optimal mental health. It can be a risk to open up and allow someone to see your deepest fears and wounds. I honor my clients with an open mind and heart so this transformation can be realized.
