My Approach to Helping
Going to therapy is an act of courage and I admire that you have gotten this far. I know that it can be hard to determine which therapist is right for you simply by reading their bio. But I'll try to give you some info about how I approach therapy. The foundation for my work is the belief that all of us were built for relationships. As a result, the relationship between you and I will be the vehicle for change. You will find that my work includes a Client-Centered approach to building therapeutic rapport and incorporates several different models for change. I often draw from Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and most prominently from a Psychodynamic approach. In general, I do not approach therapy sessions with an agenda. Instead, I prefer to follow your lead and offer insight where I can. How that insight is used for change is entirely up to you!
