My Approach to Helping
My goal is to bring compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed care to the therapeutic experience. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and informed by social justice, intersectionality, and ecological systems theory. I like to begin therapy by asking questions and establishing trust in order to collaborate on goals informed by your needs and interests. My hope is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing what is (and isn’t) working for you. If applicable, I bring art therapy interventions into sessions in addition to behavioral and cognitive interventions. I might provide resources such as worksheets, videos, and books; or I might suggest “homework” to help implement skills outside of sessions. Ultimately, the therapy experience will be unique to your personal journey, and my role as a therapist is to act as an encouraging guide and reliable resource for you while emphasizing grace, patience, and self-compassion.
