My Approach to Therapy

Do you find yourself feeling regularly overwhelmed, wanting a place to "let out" your thoughts and what you are going through? My name is Miranda Mulcrone, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work alongside my clients to identify functions behind unwanted thoughts and actions, process events from yesterday or years ago, and explore their values to live a more attuned life. My clients tend to be teenagers, young adults, and adults facing struggles such as anxiety, trauma, self harm suicidal ideation, sexuality, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship issues, stress, and body image disordered eating. I use a client centered, relational approach pulling from modalities such as ACT, DBT, CBT, and Mindfulness through a sex positive, HAES, harm reduction lens to help my clients meet their goals. While I am not here to solve your problems, I strive to provide you skills, validation, humor when appropriate, reflection, and a listening ear without judgement.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

The client therapist relationship can be, and usually is, a huge indicator of how therapy will go. I encourage clients to pay attention to how they feel when in sessions as well as check in with themselves and me about the client therapist fit. Therapists come in all different shapes and sizes. If you are going to be spilling your guts to someone, you deserve to feel comfortable with that person.
