My Approach to Helping
I began helping others in 1990 as a Peer Counselor (Drug Exemption NCO) while active duty in the Marine Corps. After earning degrees in Psychology and Social Work at UNCWECU, I obtained Licensure to practice independently with Virginia Board of Health Professionals in 2004. I am originally from the Hampton Roads area, but have worked internationally with people from many different backgrounds.
I have continued to support the military, as well as the community at large spanning 3 decades with evidenced based treatments for trauma (PTSD). I have training and experience treating PTSD with effective modalities, such as CPT , PET, and EMDR. I am formally trained to work with all ages, including a non - directed play therapy for young children. Whether through individual, couples , or Family therapy, I love bringing others get to the best version of themselves. I use a holistic lens to offer practical techniques such as yoga, acupressure, and breathing techniques to alleviate symptoms. I have a depth of experience in successfully treating most issues people experience with compassion, and positivity for the future.
