My Approach to Helping

The opportunity to gain greater awareness and insight into your behavior, emotions and relationships can lead to a life with less stress, more joy, and a richer connection with yourself and others. My clients come to therapy looking forward to a more fulfilling and happier life. We work together toward these goals. I have a general clinical practice utilizing in-person treatment and phoneSkype options which benefits the traveling professional, stay-at-home Moms and other busy clients. It is an honor to witness the growth and success I see in my clients.

My training and work experience includes a graduate internship at The Baylor Psychiatry Clinic, a Post Graduate Fellowship at The Menninger Psychiatry Clinic, outpatient and residential settings with adolescents and adults, male and female. I am also certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and hope to offer ranch based services soon.

More Info About My Practice

The emotional safety and confidentiality of our clients are areas taken very seriously at JEM Wellness & Counseling. From the moment they enter our offices, their wellness and goals are our priority, and we join them in accomplishing both. We offer the support and guidance of highly trained, compassionate and ethical clinicians committed to creating a safe and supportive environment. They work with our clients to create the best opportunities for the exploration, reflection, release and growth for our clients, whether they are engaged in individual, couples or family therapy or are a member of one of our ongoing support or psychotherapy groups.

JEM Wellness & Counseling, PLLC was created by Melanie E. Flint, LCSW, CGP in Houston, Texas. She feels strongly about providing holistic and comprehensive support for the entire family system, which resulted in expanding her private practice to include other highly trained and like-minded psychotherapists to join her in this pursuit. JEM Wellness & Counseling clinicians are hand picked based on their training and expertise and also on their intuition, compassion, ethics and empathy. These are invaluable and imperative qualities in our clinicians.

We support the whole family from the youngest members to the oldest as individuals, couples and entire family systems using evidence based treatment modalities. We care deeply about our clients’ wellness, working together toward their goals, whether it is an individual journey or includes their loved ones as well. We believe a healthy, well-adjusted adult begins in childhood and a connected family relies on all members. We support childrenadolescentsteens and their parents toward that goal. Supporting parents is a special interest of ours, as the parenting journey can often be a challenge in the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

My Role as a Therapist

I feel my role as a therapist is to partner with my clients in finding solutions for the challenges in areas of their lives that may seem unfulfilling or to explore with them what changes they can implement to find more happiness in their lives.
