My Approach to Helping

Do you struggle with depression, mood swings, anxiety, feeling disconnected from others, or the way your life has been impacted by trauma? Are you searching for happiness or meaning in your relationships, your work, or in life in general? If any of this resonates with you, I may have the type of professional experience that would be helpful to you.

I work with adults (18+) providing virtual therapy. Common issues I work with include depression, bipolar disorder, mood swings, anger management, anxiety disorders, trauma, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ related issues, and low self-esteem. I also provide gender-affirming care. My passion for therapy developed from my own experience receiving therapy as a child and young adult and I draw on this experience to make every effort to be mindful of how it feels to be the client in a therapy setting, complete with the anxiety, awkwardness, frustrations, and a whole spectrum of emotions and practical concerns of being a client.

The therapy I provide involves assessing the sources of stress and conflict a client is experiencing, drawing on a client's strengths, teaching coping techniques, providing education related to mental health, and using talk therapy to work through problems, process difficult situations, and address thinking styles or behaviors that keep a client feeling stuck. I empower clients by treating them as individuals and by not opting for a one-size-fits-all approach in providing therapy. Engaging with clients with genuine warmth and acceptance serves as a foundation to my approach with every client. I invite you to reach out for a consultation. I take most United Healthcare, Optum, Aetna, and Cigna insurance plans.

More Info About My Practice

My therapy practice is completely virtual. I offer online therapy session through a HIPAA compliant platform. I do not offer in-person sessions at this time.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Unfortunately, past negative experiences with therapy deter a lot of people from trying therapy again. That's understandable! Therapy can be challenging and makes some people feel very vulnerable. If you pair that with a therapist that does not seem to be on the same page as you, has a style that just doesn't match well, or does something outright harmful or unprofessional, that's more than enough for many people to second-guess if therapy is right for them or if every experience will be that way.

I try to address these concerns early on by asking about past experiences with therapy: What worked? What didn't? What would need to be different this time to give therapy another shot? I also highly value client feedback and adjusting my approach to best suit a client's needs and preferences. I ask for feedback consistently, take it seriously, and adjust my approach if necessary so that I can be the most helpful to you. I have experience and knowledge with subject matter and approaches to therapy, but I am not the expert on you. I respect your input and often receive feedback from clients that I am approachable when concerns related to therapy arise.
