My Approach to Helping

My name is Michelle Maguire, I am a licensed clinical social worker in Missouri and Kansas. I believe trust, compassion, and respect are essential for effective treatment. I will create a safe and non-judgmental space for healing and change.

I provide a client-centered and holistic approach to therapy. I believe each person is unique in their needs and life experiences. I will utilize attachment-based theories and techniques and other modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness strategies.

I studied at Kansas State University for my undergraduate degree in social work. I obtained my graduate degree in social work from the University of Missouri. I have been a practicing therapist since 2003. My clinical experience spans clients of all ages and backgrounds.

My communication style is calm and personable. It is important to me that my clients feel comfortable and valued. I pride myself on the ability to listen attentively without judgment.

I have an innate ability to listen and provide care to others. I chose social work and the counseling profession because I believe individuals are impacted by their life experiences and the environment in which they live. I was eager to learn clinical skills in my education and practice to promote wellness for myself and others.

The therapy process begins with trust and rapport building. I will learn what issues brought you to therapy and what you hope to accomplish through a collaborative approach to healing and change.

What you can expect the first session is to be welcomed with a warm approach and genuine concern for your therapy needs. I will actively listen and provide validation and support as you share your concerns and hopeful outcomes for therapy.
