My Approach to Helping

When you contact me, you might feel depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed. You feel like life has gotten "so bad" or uncomfortable that you reach out for support and understanding. I believe we come into this world with an innate sense of self and self-worth. Unfortunately, life events, relationships, etc., sometimes cloud that sense. I can help you get it back.

We begin by defining your goals for therapy. What do you want for yourself and your relationships with others? Together, we will explore the thoughts, feelings, and origins of your distress, while at the same time generating practical coping skills to use outside of the therapy room. My therapeutic methods incorporate depth psychology, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral techniques. You will take me on a journey through your life and your thoughts, and we will explore it together.

More Info About My Practice

I want clients to see therapy as a welcome opportunity to truly be themselves so that coming in becomes a refuge, not a chore. I try to be a calm, curious, and genuine presence in the lives of my clients, to put them at ease in order to demystify and de-stigmatize therapy.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

If you are going to come in and talk about uncomfortable or upsetting things in your life, you need to trust your therapist! That is why I insist on an initial (free) phone consultation with all clients to ensure they are comfortable making any appointment. If we meet, and it's not a good match, I can provide referrals to you from a wide network of colleagues. It is important to me that people find the help they need, from a person they believe in.
