My Approach to Helping

Welcome. Your life has brought you here. Only you know why. I invite you to explore your why with me.

I help individuals, couples, and human and pet parents navigate life's disruptions and challenges. I meet you where you are and help you identify and reach the goals you set for yourself. I seek to establish a therapeutic alliance based on authenticity, empathy, and non-judgement. I believe you have inherent strengths that enable you to grow and adapt through personal choices, responsibilities, and suffering. I support you on your journey to identify the people, hopes, struggles, and activities that matter most to you.

I specialize in life transitions, loss, grief, health related-distress, couples discord, and compassion fatigue. I humbly witness and nurture the resilience of the human spirit while working with people facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses. I provide a non-judgmental, safe space for couples to face each other and their difficulties with respect.

A calming environment and empathic space awaits you, where you can become aware and mindful in the here and now, identify meaning in life, and discover your resilience. I invite you to set aside time to explore yourself, your feelings, and life’s challenges in a safe, confidential setting created for curiosity and transformation.

I welcome your life story!

More Info About My Practice

My therapeutic approach helps you balance life’s challenges by being aware and mindful in the here and now, while identifying meaning in life, discovering your resilience, promoting growth, and nurturing wellness.

Our work together aims to improve your decision-making skills and to enhance your intrapersonal and interpersonal connectedness.

Evidence-based techniques and interventions are tailored to each individual and may include using language that arouses feelings and emotions, empty chair and role playing, symbols and metaphors, creative expressions, journaling and letter writing, bibliotherapy, meditation and guided imagery, and behavioral and cognitive challenges and restructuring.

My role is not to give advice but rather to help you discover your answers to life’s many challenges and opportunities for growth.

I help you thicken the stories that exhibit your strengths, thin the stories that reinforce negative judgments from self and other, and encourage you to be the author of your next life chapters.

“As we become aware of ourselves as storytellers we realize we can use our stories to heal and make ourselves whole.”
— Susan Wittig Albert
