My Approach to Helping
My many years of experience, compassion, empathy, non-judgmental approach, and strong sensitivity guides me to help each person as a unique individual. I believe that Psychotherapy is an Art, and how I connect with each person and help each person, differs. Every person is the expert on their life and I am here to join with the person to help them. Therefore, therapy is a collaborative process. It is up to the client to decide what is right for them. I am very open to working with various cultures, genders and with LGBTQ+ clients. I am continuously learning and continuously enjoy and learn from my clients as well. Each client has left their impression on me. I draw from many years of education, training, and experience when I work with clients. My B.A. and M.A. are in Clinical Psychology. I also earned a minor in Women's Studies along with my B.A. With my M.A., I also earned an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. After graduate school at Pepperdine, I completed a two year post graduate program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at SCPI (So. Calif. Psychoanalytic Institute in Beverly Hills). In addition to providing therapy, I also provide clinical supervision for therapist interns. I have supervised therapy interns for several years and greatly enjoy mentoring new therapists by providing their training hours required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. As an animal lover, I have added a specialty to my practice to prescribe Emotional Support Animals.
