My Approach to Helping
Struggling with being away from everything you know for the first time can be a terrifying feeling - especially if its at a time where everyone expects you to be excited. How are you supposed to be excited when everything is new and overwhelming? Instead you might feel anxious, stressed, and like no one understands.
However, you are not alone - I've been there too. Whether the transition you're facing is starting college, starting a new job, engaging in a new relationship, or something else entirely, I want to help you face the challenges that come with change. Asking for help is hard, and that's why taking that step alone is such a big deal. Congratulations for making it this far!
I have always wanted to help others, and my own experiences in therapy have shown me the difference that helping someone explore their past and mental health can have on a person. I work with my clients to help them understand how relationships and thinking patterns impact who they are at this time. Being able to sit in silence while people process things helps me to not rush anyone past what they are ready for. And my love of sports and games helps me to relate to younger kids - I do my best to bring in topics that they love so that therapy feels a little less scary for young ones.
And if you are facing anxiety or depression, despite feeling isolated, please know that you are not alone. I will use our time together to help you feel less alone in session and develop techniques to help yourself feel less isolated when you are not in the office.
