My Approach to Helping

In my practice I offer a safe and healing space for children, teens, adults, and couples to find therapeutic support and insight into their struggles. I practice therapy from a holistic, genuine, and strengths-based perspective which helps my clients to uncover their powerful inner resources to gain insight, healing, and confidence in their therapeutic journey. By utilizing creative expression and counseling, my clients can work through past and present issues while also cultivating skills to enhance their stability in the future. Through insightful exploration, creative expression, and verbal processing, my clients will gain clarity and health through their therapeutic journey.

I operate from a transpersonal, person-centered standpoint, which considers the person in their mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional entirety. I believe that each person is capable of choosing their life path, and re-creating their story along the way. I also believe in the inherent wisdom, strength, and wholeness that each individual holds within, which can provide guidance and support for them throughout life.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Some ares that I have extensive therapeutic experience with are:
EATING DISORDERS
PREGNANCY & PARENTING
TRAUMA
ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

These issues can often tie into the way the client sees their identity and self world in this world. I am experienced in helping my clients not only to separate their true identity from that of their dominant struggle, but to also confront the issue in a gentle way and cultivate internal resources to feel healthy, whole, and happy without feeling inhibited. Art Therapy can be a wonderful modality to utilize when combating these issues, as imagery often reflects inner feelings and resources that the client has difficulty verbalizing. The art can act as a mirror for the client to witness their own perceptions, and learn the skills and tools necessary to heal from their struggles.

I have written a book called "The Authentic Mother" that shares support and validation for new parents struggling to adapt to their role with their baby. This book can be found on Amazon.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to support my clients on their journey of uncovering their strengths, resources, and tools while working through difficult emotions, experiences, and obstacles. I believe that each client already has within them everything they need to live a healthy, happy, and gratifying life. My role is to provide guidance, insight, and witness to my clients as they cultivate their internal resources.

I also provide a healing, safe space for my clients to be honest with themselves about their reality. In this therapeutic space, my clients are able to identify their true struggles and resources from a place of vulnerability, safety, and honesty. By offering a variety of creative materials including art materials, music, writing, and body-centered practices, I offer my clients the potential for new and unique possibilities that could be important tools to use for healthy coping, self expression, and creative outlets.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Therapy can be used as a preventative tool as much as it can be used as a recovery tool. I encourage individuals to seek therapy when they feel that their life feels less meaningful, enjoyable, or livable than they would like.

By utilizing therapy as a way to gain insight and cultivate resources, many clients are able to minimize their issues before they become overwhelming and unbearable. I practice therapy from the perspective of aligning with my clients, and focusing completely on each client's unique needs. From this perspective, I am able to work with individuals who are just beginning their therapeutic journey into optimal health and wellness, as well as those who have been combating serious issues for a prolonged amount of time.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy is one of the greatest gifts you can offer to yourself. Therapy is not only for individuals struggling with mental health or severe issues, although it is an important form of support for these clients. Therapy can also be used as a strengths-based, insight-oriented process for individuals and couples to gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and resources so that they can utilize these important tools for deeper life satisfaction and personal growth. I see therapy as a healing and growth agent for individuals and couples who wish to find optimal health, wellness, and satisfaction in their lives.

Therapy can also be used as a preventive health measure, as clients learn important tools for cultivating resources, implementing healthy coping skills, and exploring meaningful insights about their lives. This can help clients to gain a deeper knowledge about their inner self, while also growing important skills to support them when stresses present in the future.
