My Approach to Helping
My name is Karen, and I have practiced as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years. I specialize in helping law enforcement, first responders, and healthcare providers, such as nurses and physicians, who experience trauma as part of their job duties. My other specialties include working with individuals with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and substance abuse. My focus is on providing a safe and comfortable space for individuals to openly share their thoughts and feelings using a cognitive-behavioral approach.
I have worked with clients in a variety of clinical settings such as emergency rooms, community mental health, law enforcement mental health teams, mobile crisis teams, psychiatric inpatient units, as well as private practice. I have spent a significant portion of my career riding with the Los Angeles and Pasadena police officers, responding to mental health calls in the community. This experience has given me a greater understanding of the challenges that law enforcement and healthcare professionals have when it comes to their own mental health.
My specialties include: Addiction Specialist, Anxiety Disorders, Bereavement-Grief Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Group Therapy, Mood Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Stress Management
