My Approach to Helping
As a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist, my treatment approach is to provide support and strategic feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. With sensitivity and compassion, I help clients find solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues.
Blending conventional and alternative approaches, I draw on a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. I work with clients to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.
My Therapy Focus
My experience reveals that virtually no emotional, behavioral and mental health issue that is dealt with on an outpatient basis has developed in a vacuum or on an island. In other words, humans are relational beings to some extent, and most of us can agree that our needs for change either stem from previous or ongoing relationship and/or are damaging our current relationships. Therefore, I am convinced that the most powerful therapy includes a blend of individual and family or group sessions, designed to strengthen individuals to the point that each one can participate as a whole, complete person in relation to others.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
Because I believe that the greatest inner need of every human is to feel significant...to someone - to self, to significant other(s), even to God. I love it when someone is able to shed all the self-doubt, shame, anger, anxiety, etc. to gain a sense of personal significance. That is the point at which the therapy process really gains momentum.
