My Approach to Helping

The essence of my work lies in creating a relationship with you in which you would feel safe to engage in an inner journey home-toward opening your heart to yourself by cultivating compassionate self-understanding and developing trust in what is being felt and experienced in the moment. Old hurts and self-defeating beliefs can cause us to close down our capacity to feel our vulnerable feelings, trust, ourselves and others, and this then affects our ability to open to a loving and kind relationship towards ourselves and others. I support you in allowing love to work its way through you impacting all areas of your life.

More Info About My Practice

It is my hope that our work together would help you embrace your innermost feelings, truths, uniquenesses and the complexities of life and relationships by increasing non-judgmental awareness, self-compassion, self-acceptance, resilience and strengthening your ability to express your feelings with greater authenticity as well as support you in finding and expressing what you want in your relationships and in cultivating a deep sense of personal integrity.
Compassionate mindfulness practice is one of the foundations of my treatment approach. My work weaves together the heart-wisdom of Buddhism and Taoism with contemporary views of relational psychoanalytic psychotherapy, body-oriented awareness and dream work.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have received advanced training in relationship issues for individuals and couples (pre-marital and marital) at the Tavistock Institute in London, as well as in working with mid-life concerns, loneliness, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, career issues, eating disorders, conscious aging, loss and grief. I have also received training in non-harming communication skills and have specialized in integrating mindfulness and self-compassion in my work for many years.

Groups I Work With

In addition to working with adult individuals and couples I also work with people from a variety of meditation communities who want a psychotherapeutic relationship with a therapist who has a deep practice herself and can support the integration of one's practice in their everyday life in a way that deepens a sense of personal integrity, self-awareness, curiosity, confidence, compassion and healthy relatedness. I work with women of all ages; men who want to explore themselves in a relational context; and couples interested in relationship as a spiritual practice.
I have completed the Advanced Couples Therapy Training at The Tavistock Center in London.
