My Approach to Helping
Over my 20+ years as a therapist, I have come to see that symptoms of depression, anxiety, or relationship challenges can often present an invitation to new growth. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or like you've exhausted your resources to cope with life, there is hope.
As your therapist, I work to illuminate and challenge unconsciously held beliefs and patterns of behavior that may be at the root of needless suffering. Pain is perhaps an inevitable part of life, but suffering need not be.
My goal as your therapist is to help you derive meaning from life’s inherent challenges and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for yourself. I find that mindfulness practice, self-compassion and a sense of humor are helpful allies as the work unfolds.
My therapeutic approach is warm, empathic, and collaborative. I offer a free initial telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have. I’m available to meet with you in-person at my Union Street office in San Francisco, or online throughout California.
