My Approach to Helping
Are you tired of talking around in circles with your current therapist? Or maybe you've never tried therapy because you can’t imagine what “talking about the problem” could possibly accomplish? And yet, there are things in your life that you can’t seem to get a grip on despite everything you've tried. That’s where I come in. I’m not interested in endless problem talk or giving you cliche advice. I’ll never tell you to “just think positive," or to simply exchange your negative thoughts for positive ones.
As a musician, I take a creative approach to therapy, which means we listen to your imagination and work with the material it gives us. I am also a Zen meditation teacher, which means mindfulness meditation and awareness practices are woven into everything I do. Sessions are a place to experiment with bringing awareness and expression to parts of yourself that you might otherwise ignore, creating new possibilities for engaging with life.
The therapeutic relationship should be trusting and compassionate, which means challenging in the right way. I will never push you to do anything you don't feel ready for, but rather invite you to step beyond your comfort zone at your own pace. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore the possibility of a life of authenticity and freedom.
