My Approach to Helping
Sometimes the challenges we face in life can leave us feeling lost, sad, or overwhelmed and can have an impact on our relationships, mood, or sense of self. My work centers on providing empathy, support, and understanding to help you address these issues and move forward in your life. I believe it is crucial to create a trusting and positive therapeutic relationship as well as a caring and safe space to process these experiences and gain insight and awareness in order to move forward in healthy and meaningful ways.
Because everyone's needs are different, I ask for us to work collaboratively to co-create the environment and experience that is most beneficial for you. Being a therapist is a great honor and I welcome the opportunity to join you on your journey.
More Info About My Practice
Picking a therapist that you feel comfortable with and seems like the right fit is extremely important. To aid in this, I offer a free phone consultation prior to the first in-person session in order to provide you with more information about my practice, answer any questionsaddress any concerns you may have, and for us to determine goodness of fit.
I offer sliding scale rates and we can discuss specific fees for services during your free phone consultation. I work as an Out of Network provider and can give you a receipt for services that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement consideration.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have a passion for working with trauma survivors and am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a mindfulness based and somatic approach to resolving trauma symptoms on an emotional, cognitive, and physical level. I also love working with young adults and children. I work closely with the child's family members and utilize play and expressive art techniques to help children process their feelings, improve behavioral issues, and enhance their distress tolerance and positive communication skills.
Additionally, I have worked with many young adults transitioning from adolescence into adulthood and take great joy in helping them gain deeper insight and self-awareness; address relational difficulties with family, friends, or partners; work through the challenges of navigating life transitions; and set and accomplish positive, healthy life goals.
My Therapy Focus
I have an eclectic therapeutic style and can utilize different approaches based on what is most helpful to you and best fits your unique needs. However, I would describe myself primarily as a relational therapist. I believe we, as people, are built to form connections with others and that the relationships and attachments we have throughout our life play an important role in our development, levels of happiness, sense of well-being and connectedness, and in our overall functioning. Given this, I will ask for us to pay attention to the relationships you have in your life currently, your early childhood relationships, and our therapeutic relationship throughout our work together.
