My Approach to Helping
It is very rewarding to see the world through the eyes of children and help them find their voice. I specialize in working with children and adolescents. I work from a RogerianClient-Centered approach, and utilize play therapy with younger children and in more traditional talk-therapy modalities with adolescents, young adults and families. I wholeheartedly believe in providing the core principles of empathetic understanding, unconditional positive regard, and being genuine through congruence when working across all ages. Providing young people with a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings is key to encouraging growth.
I am experienced in a variety of settings including community mental health, elementary and high schools, and outpatient private practices. I also specialize in treating clients with complex trauma and a variety of issues present in childhood. I have specialized training in Non-Directive Play Therapy and believe that play is a child's first language.
I seek to understand my clients, and I believe therapy can create change when the individual is met with empathetic understanding and provided with a safe non-judgmental space to explore their internal world. I believe in the humanistic ideal that all humans have positive potential under the right circumstances. Reach out to me today to begin your journey.
