My Approach to Helping
"There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in."
from "Anthem" by Leonard Cohen
It is out of brokenness and pain that healing begins. Pain and hope are the key ingredients of engagement in therapy. Chances are you are reading this because you have had just about enough emotional pain and are willing to hope that there may be help.
Over the years I have used a variety of approaches to helping others, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, looking at the ways our thinking influences our emotions, to the psychodynamic pealing back of the onion to approach underlying core issues, to so-called "bottom up" somatic approaches, which begin with what the body has to tell us about our emotional challenges. There is no one cookie cutter approach that I believe works for everyone. We will go with what works for you.
In therapy I will encourage your self-exploration and encourage you to find the healing resources within yourself.
