My Approach to Helping
Life calls us inward—especially when we find ourselves overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. Marie Zeledon worked as a creative director and fashion designer for years in the fast-paced, high-pressure fashion world in New York City. It was a career that demanded constant output, perfectionism, and self-sacrifice. Over time, the stress took a toll—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—which is when she discovered mindfulness.
What started as a personal journey to manage stress and find balance quickly transformed her life. Through mindfulness and transpersonal exploration, Marie began reconnecting with her body, reclaiming her voice, and healing long-standing wounds. This transformation was so profound that she felt deeply called to guide others on their own path of healing, embodiment, and integration.
As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, Marie offers a warm, compassionate, and grounded presence to individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families navigating life transitions, trauma, spiritual awakening, or emotional overwhelm. She believes therapy is a sacred space—a place to reclaim authenticity, explore inner wisdom, and reimagine your relationship with yourself and others.
At Foundations Counseling LLC, Marie Zeledon supports clients working through:
· Anger management—anxiety, stress, low self-worth, grief, trauma
· Mind-body-spirit integration—mindfulness, somatic awareness, spiritual emergence
· Life transitions—career change, creative blocks, identity development
· Creative and sensitive souls—empaths, highly sensitive persons, artists, helpers, and seekers
· Bilingual services—she offers therapy in both English and Spanish, with cultural sensitivity at the heart of her work
· Children—abuse, bullying, social rejection, eating challenges, loss of a parent or loved one, school issues, and self-esteem
· Relationships and families—betrayal trauma, communication, couples counseling, divorce recovery, and trauma recovery
· Child play therapy—a developmentally sensitive, evidence-based approach that allows children to express what they may not yet have the words to say
Marie holds a Master of Arts degree in mindfulness and transpersonal psychology from Naropa University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Montclair University. Her approach is integrative and intuitive. She blends evidence-based practices—cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), attachment theory, and more—with transpersonal and mindfulness-based techniques. She incorporates sound, guided imagery, and soul-centered exploration to support profound transformation.
Marie sincerely believes that you already carry the medicine within. Her role is to walk beside you as a witness, guide, and companion on your journey back to wholeness.
