What's My Approach to Therapy?

Emotions are a universal language that offer insight into the relationship between the outside world and our internal world. Through the ebbs and flows of life, our present emotions are the lighthouse that lets us know how far or close we are to our genuine selves. Margibel Vazquez believes that emotions are not meant to be suppressed; rather, they are meant to be honored, as they are the ground upon which we build deeper understanding, healing, and growth.

With increased emotional awareness, we gain the ability to express our feelings effectively and reclaim our sense of autonomy. Because emotions are experienced both in the body and interpreted through the mind, Margibel approaches healing as a holistic process, one that nurtures both physical presence and mental awareness. She strives to provide a warm, supportive, and safe environment for that process to take place. Margibel believes that it is a sacred privilege to provide compassionate care for your healing journey.

At Foundations Counseling, Margibel Vazquez works with a wide variety of clients who may be seeking services that include:

· Mental health and wellness – anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, self-care, spirituality, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), boundaries, holistic health, trauma and abuse recovery

· Children, adolescents, and teens – self-esteem and self-worth issues, anxiety, school and family issues, effects of divorce, trauma, play therapy, art therapy, bullying, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), social and communication issues

· Individual counseling – trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, perfectionism, self-worth issues, codependency, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), life coaching, catastrophic thinking

· Relationship and couples counseling – communication, codependency, parent-child interactions, pre-engagement, pre-marital, attachment issues, conflict resolution, breakups, divorce recovery, emotional affairs, parenting

· Relationship dynamics – adolescent development, attachment issues, intimacy concerns, marital difficulties, parenting skills and training, unresolved conflict

Margibel Vazquez has a Master of Science degree in marital and family therapy with a certificate in play therapy from Loma Linda University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Iowa. Margibel utilizes techniques from emotionally focused therapy (EFT), emotionally focused family therapy (EFFT), internal family systems (IFS), person-centered therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and child-centered play therapy.

Margibel Vazquez has been involved with helping individuals and families for the past five years. That interest led her to seek an advanced degree in marriage and family systems theory. Margibel has experience with individuals, couples, and families struggling with relationships, parenting, and emotional regulation.
