What's My Approach to Therapy?

Monica Lopez is a registered mental health counselor in Colorado, dedicated to supporting clients through life’s challenges with compassion and expertise. She holds both a Master of Science and a Master of Education Specialist Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology and a double major in Business Management. As a proud member of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), an honor society promoting excellence in counseling, Monica upholds the highest standards in her practice. Monica's approach integrates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy, enabling her to tailor her methods to meet each client’s individual needs. Her journey in mental health began with volunteering at 211 Big Bend, where she answered crisis hotline calls, including those for the National Suicide Lifeline, and engaged in research on suicidal ideation. Monica also provided guidance to students at the counseling center of Tallahassee Community College, gaining valuable experience in addressing a range of mental health concerns. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Monica is able to serve a broader client base, bridging language and cultural gaps to create an inclusive therapeutic environment. At Foundations Counseling, her compassionate, client-centered approach helps clients find pathways to a healthier, more fulfilling life, transforming challenges into opportunities for personal growth.
