My Approach to Helping
Consider it, you are looking for a stranger, a professional sure, but no less a stranger to whom you plan to confide intimate details of what troubles you most. I've invested in my own therapy extensively and I can appreciate how difficult it is to find someone you can hope to trust. I also know how it can be life-changing.
My background is in the application of existential philosophy and psychoanalytic ideas to clinical practice. Patients often find this approach to be provocative yet warm, pragmatic but also "deep", and more personal than they have come to expect from therapy. I also have a research background in the therapeutic application of psychedelics.
People who come to see me are suffering in some way, whether it be with work, relationships, or other issues, and they want to know why and what they can do about it. Some people have identified the problem as having to do with a mental health diagnosis, stress, intimacy issues, or some other term that has helped them describe the outward appearance of the problem. However, they have come to therapy because these descriptions do not get to the heart of the problem. With time and a good therapist, therapy is the perfect place to confide your thoughts with another and find a better way through the challenges of life.
