I love getting to know you and the uniqueness that is in you! As Rollo May stated (to paraphrase), it is often those with exceptional abilities and intellects that find themselves in the therapist's office. Conformity is stress-inducing, and learning how to mitigate oneself without also losing oneself, is difficult. Society's begging for conformity may be why functioning well in our current culture is so difficult, and why you feel under-appreciated and unaccepted. Through getting to know you, applying the thousands of hours of experience I have with some of the most historically challenging populations, and applying the great learning from my education, I am confident we can find solutions!

More Info About My Practice

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interview, Rational Emotive Behavioral, Reality Theory, and Existential therapeutic approaches for a holistic, integrative approach to seeing your situation in the unique context that has created you.

My Role as a Therapist

I've been significantly frustrated by some of my experiences in life when I've expected more help than I've received. That's why I approach the therapeutic relationship as one where I am both expert and learner. I know that I am truly talented as a therapist and have expended much energy and many resources obtaining learning to help you; however, I MUST learn from you about your unique experience. In the process, I will be awed and changed by my interaction with you. You may be having difficulties, but I have had difficulties, too, and I love being able to help you realize your value!
