My Approach to Helping
I use psycho-sensory methods to help you safely experience, work with, and heal the subconscious parts of yourself that kept you alive in the face of childhood abuse, invalidation or emotional neglect. These parts bear old wounds and have remained on a war-footing convinced that your very survival is still at stake despite the fact that you're grown up, out of the nest, and capable of living authentically and joyfully unburdened by the past. Healing occurs in different ways that support and reinforce each other. One essential part is seeing the origin of and falsity of the negative self-image and self-beliefs that keep you feeling small, weak, and helpless. Another is experiencing self-compassion, self-forgiveness, self-acceptance, and healthy self-love. A third component is gaining consciousness of and control over self-sabotaging behaviors and learning to access and apply your talents, gifts, and strengths in a personally meaningful way. Eventually you will know in your bones that you are a worthy person who deserves to love and be loved, a person who has every right to be herself and need no longer fear others or seek their approval to feel safe.
