My approach is to meet you where you are in your healing process and to help guide you to new perspectives and resolution. To create a trusting relationship, I maintain a non-judgmental attitude towards what we are working on together. My openness to your personal recovery is met with genuine curiosity and compassion as we explore underlying limited beliefs and relational patterns.

When I decided to become a licensed mental health counselor, my motivation was to become a thorough and non-judgmental listener and "feedback-giver" for people who may be struggling on their life's path. Throughout my career as a therapist, I have developed a passion for counseling people in need of guidance. I also like to help people with relationship issues. I work with individuals and couples to meet established therapy goals.

I am currently in the process of becoming a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT). EFT is based on attachment theory and is proven to be one of the most effective relational therapies currently available. This approach especially helps couples enhance their emotional connection and/ or overcome their relationship distress. In the EFT approach, each partner expands their own awareness and ability to tune into their partner.

Giving guidance is my life's purpose. I am open to all orientations of clients. My role is to facilitate a conversation about anything you're facing at the moment: grief, trauma, anxiety. I am a good listener and can provide effective feedback. I look forward to meeting you.

More Info About My Practice

Allow me to share a bit about my path to becoming an effective therapist. I cultivated my initial curiosities about psychology at Troy University, however, much of my listening skills I attribute to nurturing rich relationships with my friends and family.

As one of the few Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapists in the Jacksonville area, I believe your personal recovery journey is uniquely important. I also offer 20+ years of experience working with addiction issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief issues.

I am interested in your story and the way you tell it. Your truth perspective is unique to you, and I value that we are working together on overcoming obstacles in your path. Let's walk together through the details of your experience.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I believe that YOU are the most important factor when choosing a therapist. Certain demographic or geographic qualities may be important to you. You can rely on word-of-mouth from a trusted friend. I can tell you that from my experience, my friends give me the best recommendations for most everything. Get a recommendation from a trusted colleague, friend or family member, if possible.

"The clients and friends I've referred share that they enjoy working with Susanne and appreciate the positive changes they are making with her support and guidance."
