My Approach to Helping
My approach therapy is one of respect, genuineness, empathy, and compassion. I pride myself on my ability to establish strong therapeutic connections and strongly believe in making therapy a collaborative process.
I am a generalist clinician; this offers me the flexibility as a clinician to focus on your individual treatment issues in an organic way and allows for us to draw from various evidence-based practices that will assist our work toward achieving your therapeutic goals.
I have 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. My direct clinical experience over the last 14 years has included individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention and case management. I have worked in various systems of care including: community agencies, county agencies, and private hospitalsinsurers. These experiences have been invaluable and have contributed to my ability to work effectively with many populations and issues.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love developing a plan with my clients and helping them effect desired changes in their lives. I have found that "little" changes are actually the biggest changes as those "small" changes are often the most difficult or challenging. It is a privilege to accompany someone through these changes and to be able to provide the tools and skills necessary to achieve their goals.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Therapeutic Alliance is one of the most influential factors in treatment success. Sometimes we come across people that are not the right fit in therapy and that is okay--not everyone is able to develop a therapeutic alliance. Just as your personality and treatment needs are unique, you will find that each therapist is unique in their personality, treatment approach and in their approach to connecting with clients.
Sometimes that creates or can lead to what we see as a negative experience. If you have a need to work through some issues, but have had a negative therapy experience, look for a new therapist and discuss the experience--address it so that you can move forward and benefit from a therapist that is the right fit for you.
