My Approach to Helping
I believe therapy is personal and should be tailored to fit your specific needs. As a parent, I understand how it feels when your child is going through something and you don't know what to do to help them. As a wife, I understand the struggles of marriage-especially when you and your spouse are at a crossroad in life and you can't seem to find your way back to a happy place. As a child of a parent that has passed away, I understand what it feels like to experience deep grief and loss. At A True You Counseling PLLC, I am here to help you navigate through these different challenges that may present themselves in your life. If you've ever gone to counseling before and had a negative experience, rest assured that my ultimate goal is to tailor a specific plan that works for your very individualized needs. Together we can work on a solution and explore different ways of coping with life's challenges.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Therapy helps you define and reach your wellness goals. Therapy also helps you identify triggers, helps to improve relationships with friends and family, recognize destructive habits, and understand the things that bother you and what you can do to change them. Therapy also helps you establish a stable and more reliable routine and therapy helps you make sense of your past traumatic experiences. In therapy, you are not alone, I will do my best to walk alongside you in this process of healing and growth.
My Therapy Focus
My focus areas in counseling that I am most passionate about are working with teenagers struggling with self-esteem, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, bullying, and adjustment issues as well as individuals struggling with trauma histories and couples struggling with marital issues. I utilize expressive arts, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and family systems model-all of which are evidenced-based practices.
