My Approach to Helping
FREE consultations! Are you feeling stuck in negative thoughts, intense emotions, or behavioral patterns that don't serve your best interest? Are you hoping to build more meaning and joy in your life? You may feel hesitant about reaching out for help, especially with pressure from all directions to "have it all together". I'm here to join you on this journey to discover healing and build a balanced life. My goal is to help you find compassion for yourself, develop skills to help you navigate life stressors, identify how you can become the best version of yourself, and be confident in the resilient person you are.
My approach is to collaborate with clients to develop a treatment plan to best meet their goals. I like to combine research findings, empirical knowledge, and clinical assessment skills, with the contextual factors of my client's unique experience. I strive to create a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore emotional difficulties and learn new tools and coping strategies to help manage symptoms.
I focus on empowering, connecting and building a strong relationship with clients to help them to overcome personal obstacles and improve their mental health. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family therapy, parent management training, exposure-response therapy, and mindfulness. Additionally I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). EMDR offers a nontraditional approach to psychotherapy designed to help clients diminish negative feelings while processing traumatic events and can be used on clients of all ages.
"If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive.” — Brene Brown
