My Approach to Helping
I believe that the quality of the counseling relationship is the most important factor in creating positive personal change in one’s life. As a person-centered counselor, I utilize my extensive empathy, genuineness, and non-judgmental ways of being to create a safe, warm and authentic counseling experience. I view each person through a holistic approach, meaning I aim to bring clarity and align all parts of a person including the mind, body, spirit, heart and emotions. I feel that a healthy therapeutic relationship can give one the confidence, insight and tools to cultivate a higher level of self-empowerment, self-love and self-acceptance to heal and bring about change in vast and beautiful ways. For children, I love to incorporate child’s yoga, visual and interactive guided meditations, and play in order to bring a sense of peace, increased focus and emotional and psychological resilience to children who are open to it. Other counseling approaches that I utilize are Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, Spirituality, Trauma-Informed, Multicultural, Family Systems, and Strength-Based Therapy.
