My Approach to Helping

The way couples communicate often misses their more important core issues or desires. Thus, the same old patterns and arguments persist. It can seem so hopeless!

Rest assured, all is not lost. I can help you realize and express each of your unmet needs in ways that actually bring you closer to each other instead of causing conflict. Hearing and understanding each other more deeply and accurately naturally elicits caring and helpful responses.

I want to remove the obstacles and help you refocus on being a team, working together, and being sensitive to each other's needs. You both want happiness and fulfillment; I would love to help you find it.

The basic ingredients of healthy relationships can be hard to maintain. These ingredients include respect, compromise, emotional intimacy, trust, acceptance, and communication. When any of these ingredients is lacking, the relationship becomes vulnerable. Some couples argue, some "check out," others find themselves seeking what they need in an affair or other damaging ways of coping.

Often, couples find an affair to be the most devastating. In the case of various forms of infidelity, you would be surprised by what can be overcome and how learning from it can actually build a stronger and healthier relationship.

You don’t have to wait until your relationship is in crisis before seeking help to build something better. In fact, taking proactive steps toward improving your relationship can greatly add to your enjoyment of your partner - and your whole life. I can help you recognize and evaluate the patterns and habits in your relationship so you can grow, individually and together, in the direction you want.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

In many cases, one partner is resistant to seeking help. It is understandable that some could feel threatened by the idea, as it may seem like a set up for taking sides. Yet, this is the very thing I want to avoid the most. I am not interested in who is right or wrong. I am only interested in helping each of you get what you need and find happiness together. Others may be skeptical about therapy and have doubts about its ability to help. I truly can appreciate healthy skepticism. Nobody wants to waste money or time. I'm no different. I don't want to waste your time or money.

Most people spend weeks or even months contemplating getting professional help. During that time, most continue to do what hasn't worked and things can deteriorate fast. When you contact me today, you are opening the door to learning how to love each other again.
