My Approach to Helping
"Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something and has lost something" -H. Jackson Brown, Jr. As your therapist, I will meet you where you are with acceptance and support. I will walk the road to wellness beside you, sometimes leading, other times following, but with you until you know the way on your own. We will begin with understanding what holds you back and what propels you forward. Together, we will tailor a plan that helps you achieve the goals you set. How we work depends on your needs, preferences, and world view. Effective therapy often weaves in different elements in order to honor the whole person and their environment. We can challenge thoughts that are not helpful, learn to acknowledge and let go of worries through mindfulness, practice new behaviors that break old patterns, gain insight into what you are actually feeling, change stressors in your environment, focus on the benefits of exercise and physical wellness and explore your creativity as an outlet for self-expression. My aim as your therapist is for you to finish therapy feeling better, stronger and more prepared to handle life's challenges.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
Every morning I wake up with the opportunity to make someone's day just a little bit better. I love the fact that a big part of my job is to help people rediscover the best parts of themselves. Each day I have the chance to learn from others and grow as a therapist. And if do my job well, I can play a small role in helping someone else make their life a bit better.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Starting therapy can seem daunting, it is easy to minimize the issues that arise and put off dealing with things. But therapy is really a way to start a conversation about the issues that seem to hold you back or cause you discomfort. The therapist can be that voice that encourages you to make change or see things from a new perspective. The pace of therapy depends on where you are and what you need. Many worry about staying in therapy forever- the goal of the therapist is to not be needed anymore because you will have gained the skills you need to manage life's challenges on your own. Please keep in mind therapy is something you can try out and a therapist is someone you "shop" for until you find the right fit.
