My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with both individuals and couples. My counseling is compassionate, empathic and empowerment-based. I believe healing occurs through the recognition of your inner strengths, helping you find ways to treat yourself with compassion during difficult times. I take care to understand and talk with you about your experiences. Together we gently explore sources of pain or stress, and decide on the best strategies for reducing stress and helping you cope with difficulties.
I specialize in assisting with Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem, Relationship Issues, Self-Growth, gender dynamics, Feelings of Isolation, Domestic Abuse, Social Anxiety, General life stress, Mood Swings, Difficulties with focus, cultural diversity, and sexual health.
I am also a Mindful Self-Compassion Trained Teacher. I actively integrate this approach in our meetings. I am also happy to offer Four meetings based exclusively on the Mindful Self-Compassion program. These four sessions can compliment ongoing counseling.
Mindful Self-Compassion is research proven approach to reducing anxiety and negative feelings. It is based on the idea that mercilessly judging and criticizing yourself do not work. A more helpful strategy is responding in a supportive and understanding way when you have a difficult time, fail, or notice something you don’t like about yourself. During these four sessions you will obtain the tools and skills to change in ways which can reduce anxiety and negative self-talk, while increase health and happiness.
